Chaaaaaarge!

King Obama deals with French intransigence and gets them to take charge of the air war over Libya!"On Monday US President Barack Obama said the US would soon cede control of operations in Libya - "in a matter of days and not in a matter of weeks". Mr Gates has said the mission could come under French-British or Nato control.

But divisions have emerged within Nato over taking command, with France and Turkey in particular offering objections. France has indicated Arab countries would not want Nato to lead and that the organisation should support US, French and British political control. Ajdabiya, west of Benghazi, is now the frontline for rebel and Gaddafi forces. Turkey wants limits on Nato involvement and says the air strikes have already gone beyond the UN resolution.

Italy said it could withdraw its bases without a co-ordinated Nato structure and Norway said its jets would not take part in the action as long as it was unclear who was in overall command.

Nato officials say they do not expect a decision for several days."

  1. Well, y'see, NATO was just delivering a Black Knight's flesh wound to Bono Gaddafi, knocking him down a rung, as it were.

Probably air-dropped DVD's of the cell phone footage of Saddam's hangin' with a "naa-naa" kind of a taunt (in French) as subtitle.

I call Bull-fucking-shit on France and England!!!
France and England want us to solo this one while taking credit for being the US minions to this whole nasty affair that they instigated?
    Bull-fucking-shit, again, I say!

Kiss my lily white ass you worthless European turds, fight your own goddamn war...and that goes for the spineless lickspittles of the Arab League, too...don't be asking for the dragon to come deal with the rabid dog, and then bitch and whine because he burns neighborhood down along with the dog.
You know damn fucking well what happens when you call in the US Military...neighborhoods disappear, shit hits the fan, death and destruction is all we're good at...you want a pimp-like beat-down of the ho?
We don't do beat-downs, we do scorch earth...or did you ignore the whole travesty of justice of what we did in Iraq or Afghanistan?

Dragons are dragons dumbfucks...blow on the fucking dragon horn, and in comes the dragon which will be followed by a whole lot of bad shit raining down on people.

Fuck me, but I'm pissed, and mostly, I'm pissed that Obama has once again proven to me how utterly and competely fucked we are that we still have a fucking Republican president!

  3. Sheerah,

I sense your passion on this untenable US intervention.

Yes, pity we still have a Republican president.

I think you have it wrong, by just a mite.
    First part:
A- Sarko and Cameron had a meeting before the first strike. Their conclusion was they were going in. Sarko did use the excuse that full NATO participation would be bad vis-a-vis Ayrab sensibilities/political posturing. This is true of course.

B- The real reason is that the French Brit duopoly knew that you could not get all NATO countries to participate, therefore Ixnay on
fighting under NATO colours. Like I said before, they wanted in.

How does Obama NCA fit in all of this? Here we have a bit that is unknown. Gates has been against the whole thing from the Git-Go. Shrillary of Clintonia has been all for it. Obama doesn't know shit from shinola about furrin' policy, so he relies on his closest courtiers for advice. Advice, of course, that will indicate go or no go criteria wilth polics of electability in mind. Indications are that once The UN OK'd NFZ, Obama weasel worded approval...Blah, Blah, just to prevent Quattaffi's planes from butchering civilians, Blah Blah.

c- So who decided that US military was going to be go to power for really neutralizing wog anti air C&C...or ground C&c for that matter?
    French/Brit? or USA?....not important! If French/Brit
beseeched and Obama had said no, they would have to have done it on their own. If on the
other hand Obama/US Generals had told them, Look we will do the hard, high speed, low drag degradation part. We will be poor mouthing US military leadership so Kenyan look-alke can be said to not starting yet another Kill all wogs expedition. So what's the difference? Verbiage.

    End Part 1

  5. Par Two:

D-French/Brit coalition could have done degredation, but at a more primitive level, and slower pace. They both have ECM, anti radar weapons, subs with tommahawk like missiles, drones, amphibs. US can get there fustest with the mostest. Brits were flying out of England, French, out of France. Charles De Gaulle (only real Carrier not of US origin) only began flights yesterday. Euro forces are not expeditionary, per se.

Also, US not using old gear on degredation. Tommahawks are Block IV. They can fly to the target, but if controller has knowledge of change of importance on target site, he can make missile act drone like, cut circles, and wait for new mission. Cool or what? Who Else is playing Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, Wogland? Canada,Danes, Spaniards. Canada has semi right wing government, I don't know about the rest, but a few are backtracking. In any case, each of those are contributing between four and seven aircraft....No Condor Legion They.

E- Sarko/Cameron have come out and said that the mission is support rebels, Kill MQ. This kind of talk scares all other participants.
Gates says every day, in a few days we will hand of missions to NATO. French/Brit duopoly say fuck NATO and the My little ponies they rode in on. Sarko is megamaniacal loudmouth.
He is very much dead in the next election, especially if libyan refugees invade southern Europe. They just had held Cantonal elections in France, and his party lost mucho seats.

Arab League sez: NFZ, you just cut circles in the sky! Channeling Joe Stalin: How many divisions does the Arab league have, the African Union? Sarko made his move; he is stuck with the fallout, as is Cameron.

  6. part three:

F- BTW, I don't follow Corporatist MSM for news, I look at Le Monde, BBC, Al Jazeera-English. Oh, Here's a tidbit from my fave Washington News Critter: Arnaud DeBorchgrave.

Am I being too cavalier over this Shite Schwarma and its' expensive denouement? Yepper, Just when I think The US gummint can't possibly get any stupider, and more blind as to the meaning and provenance of money, as well as ever more in the throes of the MIC and of the drooling Repubs; they go and do this; in fucking-credible.

Unlike Herr Seidlitz, I am not in favor of the USA doing this mission. I am in favor of France and England, plus whoever else wants to dance, to do it. Nations have to learn independence in order to achieve their percieved goals. NATO's non US countries have been on training wheels for too long. Let them do it; how else are they going to learn. Also, there are humanitarian aspects to all of this, which affects Euros and Maghreb countries.

G-Did you hear about the F-15 being shot down? Seems the Kearsarge sent a rescue helo (or two) with Jarheads aboard to recover the airmen. Seems some Lookie loos from rebel held territory came to check out the haps....and got ventilated for their troubles (sources say no deaths, sources also say mechanical problems downed jets). I can't wait until the desert OX comes over and takes over total theater command and sends in a division, for starters. Ya'll chill on the humanitarian effects; civilians always get waxed in wars. You can only send money and hope it gets to the victims. As to the monetary pillage, nothing short of a French type revolution is going to change that.

  8. To All,
How does a defensive alliance like Nato get involved in offensive actions outside their area of concern/opns?
Who is Nato representing here? Has it become a strike arm?

    Flash Update:

Welly well well! It looks as if the entire NATO construct is going to do Libya????? I never would have predicted that.

Can anyone here say who put a gun to which lily livered peacenik minister to make this happen? The Turks? The Turks are going to join this?
    I give up on prognostications.
